Question 1

Was $20,000 a good price for this 2019 BMW M5?

Accepted Answer

222 comparable 2019 BMW M5 listings sold at auction for a median of $17,600, spanning $6,900 to $30,750. At $20,000 this one went 14% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

This BMW M5 sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this BMW M5 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2019 BMW M5's pre-damage retail value at $45,945. It sold for $20,000 — 56% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a salvage vehicle title mean for this BMW M5?

Accepted Answer

This 2019 BMW M5 was sold on a salvage vehicle title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 5

Is 36,098 miles high for a 2019 BMW M5?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2019 BMW M5 listings at auction averaged 55,852 miles across 222 sales, so at 36,098 miles this one sits 35% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

How far is this BMW M5 from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in TX - HOUSTON. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.
