Question 1

What do front end 2018 BMW M5 models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 82 recorded sales of the 2018 BMW M5 with front end damage, the median was $12,300, from $5,000 to $25,000. That is 9% below the $13,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $16,700 a good price for this 2018 BMW M5?

Accepted Answer

198 comparable 2018 BMW M5 listings sold at auction for a median of $13,500, spanning $5,700 to $24,400. At $16,700 this one went 24% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

This BMW M5 sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 4

How much below its undamaged value did this BMW M5 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2018 BMW M5's pre-damage retail value at $60,045. It sold for $16,700 — 72% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 5

How far is this BMW M5 from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in MN - MINNEAPOLIS. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 1,100 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $725-$1,050, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 6

Is 51,746 miles high for a 2018 BMW M5?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2018 BMW M5 listings at auction averaged 70,256 miles across 198 sales, so at 51,746 miles this one sits 26% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
