Question 1

Was $8,500 a good price for this 2017 BMW M4?

Accepted Answer

79 comparable 2017 BMW M4 listings sold at auction for a median of $13,925, spanning $7,300 to $22,000. At $8,500 this one went 39% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

How much below its undamaged value did this BMW M4 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 BMW M4's pre-damage retail value at $36,292. It sold for $8,500 — 77% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 3

What does a salvage title mean for this BMW M4?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 BMW M4 was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 4

How far is this BMW M4 from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in IL - ELGIN. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 700 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $450-$675, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

Is 69,406 miles high for a 2017 BMW M4?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 BMW M4 listings at auction averaged 66,078 miles across 79 sales, so at 69,406 miles this one sits 5% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

This BMW M4 has water/flood and minor dent/scratches damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.
