Question 1

Was $18,800 a good price for this 2011 BMW M3?

Accepted Answer

29 comparable 2011 BMW M3 listings sold at auction for a median of $7,800, spanning $4,600 to $14,275. At $18,800 this one went 141% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

How much below its undamaged value did this BMW M3 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2011 BMW M3's pre-damage retail value at $33,880. It sold for $18,800 — 45% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 3

What does a salvage certificate mean for this BMW M3?

Accepted Answer

This 2011 BMW M3 was sold on a salvage certificate. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 4

How far is this BMW M3 from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in CA - VAN NUYS. The nearest major vehicle export port is Long Beach, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

What does "RUNS AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUNS AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2011 BMW M3. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 6

Is 57,514 miles high for a 2011 BMW M3?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2011 BMW M3 listings at auction averaged 113,390 miles across 29 sales, so at 57,514 miles this one sits 49% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
