Question 1

What do hail 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 20 recorded sales of the 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT with hail damage, the median was $4,625, from $3,100 to $7,900. That is 27% above the $3,650 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,000 a good price for this 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

380 comparable 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT listings sold at auction for a median of $3,650, spanning $3,100 to $5,000. At $3,000 this one went 18% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT's pre-damage retail value at $11,501. It sold for $3,000 — 74% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in IL - CHICAGO HEIGHTS. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 700 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $450-$675, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

What does a salvage title mean for this VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

This 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 6

Is 79,550 miles high for a 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2018 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT listings at auction averaged 82,438 miles across 380 sales, so at 79,550 miles this one sits 4% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
