Question 1

Was $8,400 a good price for this 2016 VOLVO XC90?

Accepted Answer

1506 comparable 2016 VOLVO XC90 listings sold at auction for a median of $6,200, spanning $3,800 to $9,550. At $8,400 this one went 35% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

What does "Starts" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

Starts is the auction's own condition note for this 2016 VOLVO XC90. It is a short status flag applied by the auction, not the result of a mechanical inspection. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 3

This VOLVO XC90 has left front and biohazard damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.

Question 4

Is 78,567 miles high for a 2016 VOLVO XC90?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 VOLVO XC90 listings at auction averaged 123,341 miles across 1506 sales, so at 78,567 miles this one sits 36% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 5

Where was this VOLVO XC90 located?

Accepted Answer

The lot was held at IAAI in Boston - Shirley (MA). Location sets the inland transport cost to a port or a repair shop, and state title rules differ, so two otherwise identical cars can be worth noticeably different amounts.

Question 6

Who sold this 2016 VOLVO XC90?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was MAPFRE USA. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
