Question 1

What do side 2019 VOLVO XC40 models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 40 recorded sales of the 2019 VOLVO XC40 with side damage, the median was $6,850, from $4,100 to $10,900. That is 2% above the $6,700 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $6,700 a good price for this 2019 VOLVO XC40?

Accepted Answer

319 comparable 2019 VOLVO XC40 listings sold at auction for a median of $6,700, spanning $4,050 to $10,300. At $6,700 this one went exactly at that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

This VOLVO XC40 sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 4

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLVO XC40 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2019 VOLVO XC40's pre-damage retail value at $20,752. It sold for $6,700 — 68% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 5

What does "ENGINE STARTS" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

ENGINE STARTS is the auction's own condition note for this 2019 VOLVO XC40. It is a short status flag applied by the auction, not the result of a mechanical inspection. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 6

Is 80,862 miles high for a 2019 VOLVO XC40?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2019 VOLVO XC40 listings at auction averaged 70,789 miles across 319 sales, so at 80,862 miles this one sits 14% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
