Question 1

What does a clear mean for this VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT was sold on a clear. A clean title means no total-loss brand was recorded at the point of sale, which is unusual at salvage auctions and typically lifts the price.

Question 2

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at IAAI in TX - HOUSTON. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 3

What does "NOT RUN" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

NOT RUN is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 4

Is 99,219 miles high for a 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT listings at auction averaged 88,466 miles across 510 sales, so at 99,219 miles this one sits 12% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 5

Did this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT come with keys?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this lot was listed with keys present, which usually means the vehicle could at least be started or moved at the yard. Combined with engine damage damage, that tells you more about its condition than the damage label alone.

Question 6

Who sold this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was ALLY FINANCIAL. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
