Question 1

What do front end 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 385 recorded sales of the 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA with front end damage, the median was $3,450, from $3,050 to $4,600. That is 1% below the $3,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,250 a good price for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA?

Accepted Answer

968 comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA listings sold at auction for a median of $3,500, spanning $3,050 to $4,800. At $3,250 this one went 7% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN JETTA sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA's pre-damage retail value at $10,446. It sold for $3,250 — 69% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN JETTA from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in TX - HOUSTON. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

What does "ENGINE STARTS" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

ENGINE STARTS is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. It is a short status flag applied by the auction, not the result of a mechanical inspection. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 6

Is 72,784 miles high for a 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA listings at auction averaged 95,992 miles across 968 sales, so at 72,784 miles this one sits 24% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
