Question 1

What do side 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 106 recorded sales of the 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA with side damage, the median was $3,500, from $3,050 to $4,600. That is level with the $3,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $5,000 a good price for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA?

Accepted Answer

963 comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA listings sold at auction for a median of $3,500, spanning $3,050 to $4,800. At $5,000 this one went 43% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN JETTA sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA's pre-damage retail value at $20,223. It sold for $5,000 — 75% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

This VOLKSWAGEN JETTA has side and front end damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.

Question 5

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN JETTA from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in IL - ELGIN. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 700 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $450-$675, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 6

Is 40,873 miles high for a 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA listings at auction averaged 96,098 miles across 963 sales, so at 40,873 miles this one sits 57% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
