Question 1

What do front end 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 248 recorded sales of the 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI with front end damage, the median was $4,350, from $3,250 to $5,700. That is 3% below the $4,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $5,400 a good price for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

436 comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings sold at auction for a median of $4,500, spanning $3,300 to $6,100. At $5,400 this one went 20% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN GTI sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI's pre-damage retail value at $16,581. It sold for $5,400 — 67% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

Is 65,876 miles high for a 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings at auction averaged 99,253 miles across 436 sales, so at 65,876 miles this one sits 34% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

What does a salvage title mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.
