Question 1

What do rear end 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 53 recorded sales of the 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI with rear end damage, the median was $4,275, from $3,150 to $5,800. That is 7% above the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,850 a good price for this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

278 comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $5,700. At $3,850 this one went 4% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

This VOLKSWAGEN GTI sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 4

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN GTI sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI's pre-damage retail value at $11,007. It sold for $3,850 — 65% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 5

What does a salvage title mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

This 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 6

Is 107,082 miles high for a 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings at auction averaged 100,083 miles across 278 sales, so at 107,082 miles this one sits 7% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
