Question 1

What do front end 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 142 recorded sales of the 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI with front end damage, the median was $3,750, from $3,150 to $5,100. That is 6% below the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,500 a good price for this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

278 comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $5,700. At $3,500 this one went 12% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN GTI from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in VA - FREDERICKSBURG. The nearest major vehicle export port is Norfolk, roughly 120 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $200-$300, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 4

What does "ENGINE STARTS" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

ENGINE STARTS is the auction's own condition note for this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI. It is a short status flag applied by the auction, not the result of a mechanical inspection. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

Is 77,788 miles high for a 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings at auction averaged 100,083 miles across 278 sales, so at 77,788 miles this one sits 22% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

Who sold this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was GEICO. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
