Question 1

What do side 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 34 recorded sales of the 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI with side damage, the median was $4,350, from $3,300 to $6,200. That is 7% above the $4,050 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $6,500 a good price for this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

275 comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings sold at auction for a median of $4,050, spanning $3,200 to $5,700. At $6,500 this one went 60% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN GTI sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI's pre-damage retail value at $16,243. It sold for $6,500 — 60% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a salvage title mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

This 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 5

Is 54,234 miles high for a 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings at auction averaged 99,746 miles across 275 sales, so at 54,234 miles this one sits 46% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN GTI from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in MN - HAM LAKE. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 1,100 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $725-$1,050, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.
