Question 1

What do rear end 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 49 recorded sales of the 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI with rear end damage, the median was $4,900, from $3,650 to $6,200. That is 9% above the $4,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $4,050 a good price for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

422 comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings sold at auction for a median of $4,500, spanning $3,300 to $6,100. At $4,050 this one went 10% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN GTI sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI's pre-damage retail value at $7,457. It sold for $4,050 — 46% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a non-repairable mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI was sold on a non-repairable. That is the most restrictive category: in most US states the vehicle cannot be retitled for road use and is intended for parts or export only. Import rules vary by country, so check locally before bidding.

Question 5

Is 139,136 miles high for a 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI listings at auction averaged 99,201 miles across 422 sales, so at 139,136 miles this one sits 40% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 VOLKSWAGEN GTI. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.
