Question 1

What does a on-salvage-ontario mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

This 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF was sold on a on-salvage-ontario. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 2

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 3

Is 51,150 miles high for a 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF listings at auction averaged 89,427 miles across 123 sales, so at 51,150 miles this one sits 43% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 4

Where was this VOLKSWAGEN GOLF located?

Accepted Answer

The lot was held at IAAI in ONTARIO - HAMILTON. Location sets the inland transport cost to a port or a repair shop, and state title rules differ, so two otherwise identical cars can be worth noticeably different amounts.

Question 5

What can I find out from VIN 3VW217AU6GM029748?

Accepted Answer

3VW217AU6GM029748 identifies this specific 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF in blue with a 1.8l i-4 di, dohc, vvt, turbo, 170hp engine, front wheel drive. This page covers its auction history only. For ownership, servicing and reported accidents, run the VIN through Carfax, AutoCheck or NMVTIS — those records are separate from ours and we cannot change them.

Question 6

Did this 2016 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF come with keys?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this lot was listed with keys present, which usually means the vehicle could at least be started or moved at the yard. Combined with front damage, that tells you more about its condition than the damage label alone.
