Question 1

Was $7,200 a good price for this 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

142 comparable 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF listings sold at auction for a median of $3,950, spanning $3,150 to $8,200. At $7,200 this one went 82% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

How much below its undamaged value did this VOLKSWAGEN GOLF sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF's pre-damage retail value at $21,196. It sold for $7,200 — 66% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 3

What does a salvage title mean for this VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

This 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 4

How far is this VOLKSWAGEN GOLF from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in TX - WILMER. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

Is 108,050 miles high for a 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF listings at auction averaged 76,679 miles across 142 sales, so at 108,050 miles this one sits 41% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

Who sold this 2018 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was USAA. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
