Question 1

Was $4,800 a good price for this 2017 TESLA MODEL S?

Accepted Answer

884 comparable 2017 TESLA MODEL S listings sold at auction for a median of $6,000, spanning $3,600 to $9,500. At $4,800 this one went 20% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

This TESLA MODEL S sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 3

Is 152,171 miles high for a 2017 TESLA MODEL S?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 TESLA MODEL S listings at auction averaged 96,051 miles across 884 sales, so at 152,171 miles this one sits 58% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 4

Who sold this 2017 TESLA MODEL S?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was AUTO CLUB OF SOUTHERN CA (ACSC). Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.

Question 5

What can I find out from VIN 5YJSA1E12HF226406?

Accepted Answer

5YJSA1E12HF226406 identifies this specific 2017 TESLA MODEL S in grey with a electric engine, rear wheel drive. This page covers its auction history only. For ownership, servicing and reported accidents, run the VIN through Carfax, AutoCheck or NMVTIS — those records are separate from ours and we cannot change them.

Question 6

Can I buy this 2017 TESLA MODEL S from AutoBidCar?

Accepted Answer

No. AutoBidCar is an archive of past auction listings, not a seller — we have never owned this vehicle. This 2017 TESLA MODEL S was listed at IAAI as lot 46162960 and any sale happened there. We publish the record so buyers can research what comparable vehicles actually sold for.
