Was $12,300 a good price for this 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS?

2011 comparable 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS listings sold at auction for a median of $7,500, spanning $4,150 to $11,600. At $12,300 this one went 64% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

What does a salvage certificate mean for this MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS?

This 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS was sold on a salvage certificate. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

How far is this MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS from an export port?

The lot sat at COPART in CA - VAN NUYS. The nearest major vehicle export port is Long Beach, roughly 200 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $250-$350, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Is 35,814 miles high for a 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS?

Comparable 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS listings at auction averaged 91,654 miles across 2011 sales, so at 35,814 miles this one sits 61% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

What does "RUNS AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

RUNS AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.
