Question 1

Was $7,400 a good price for this 2021 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

126 comparable 2021 MAZDA MX-5 listings sold at auction for a median of $6,100, spanning $3,550 to $9,300. At $7,400 this one went 21% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

How much below its undamaged value did this MAZDA MX-5 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2021 MAZDA MX-5's pre-damage retail value at $16,062. It sold for $7,400 — 54% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 3

What does a salvage title mean for this MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

This 2021 MAZDA MX-5 was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2021 MAZDA MX-5. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

This MAZDA MX-5 has water/flood and minor dent/scratches damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.

Question 6

Is 39,356 miles high for a 2021 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2021 MAZDA MX-5 listings at auction averaged 40,651 miles across 126 sales, so at 39,356 miles this one sits 3% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
