Question 1

Was $3,450 a good price for this 2017 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

119 comparable 2017 MAZDA MX-5 listings sold at auction for a median of $4,625, spanning $3,250 to $7,300. At $3,450 this one went 25% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 2

What does a salvage mean for this MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 MAZDA MX-5 was sold on a salvage. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 3

How far is this MAZDA MX-5 from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at IAAI in OH - WEST CHESTER. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 430 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $375-$525, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 MAZDA MX-5. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

Is 74,329 miles high for a 2017 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 MAZDA MX-5 listings at auction averaged 60,925 miles across 119 sales, so at 74,329 miles this one sits 22% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

Who sold this 2017 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was STATE FARM INSURANCE. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
