Question 1

What do rear end 2016 MAZDA MX-5 models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 40 recorded sales of the 2016 MAZDA MX-5 with rear end damage, the median was $4,675, from $3,250 to $6,600. That is 14% above the $4,100 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,250 a good price for this 2016 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

167 comparable 2016 MAZDA MX-5 listings sold at auction for a median of $4,100, spanning $3,200 to $6,400. At $3,250 this one went 21% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this MAZDA MX-5 sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2016 MAZDA MX-5's pre-damage retail value at $14,957. It sold for $3,250 — 78% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2016 MAZDA MX-5. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

Is 105,972 miles high for a 2016 MAZDA MX-5?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 MAZDA MX-5 listings at auction averaged 64,660 miles across 167 sales, so at 105,972 miles this one sits 64% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

This MAZDA MX-5 has rear end and front end damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.
