Question 1

What do hail 2017 KIA OPTIMA models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 10 recorded sales of the 2017 KIA OPTIMA with hail damage, the median was $4,225, from $3,350 to $4,900. That is 22% above the $3,450 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $4,150 a good price for this 2017 KIA OPTIMA?

Accepted Answer

208 comparable 2017 KIA OPTIMA listings sold at auction for a median of $3,450, spanning $3,050 to $4,500. At $4,150 this one went 20% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this KIA OPTIMA sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 KIA OPTIMA's pre-damage retail value at $11,785. It sold for $4,150 — 65% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 KIA OPTIMA. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

How far is this KIA OPTIMA from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in MO - BRIDGETON. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 780 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $500-$750, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 6

Is 80,051 miles high for a 2017 KIA OPTIMA?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 KIA OPTIMA listings at auction averaged 87,582 miles across 208 sales, so at 80,051 miles this one sits 9% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
