Question 1

What do front end 2018 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 1290 recorded sales of the 2018 FORD EXPLORER with front end damage, the median was $4,050, from $3,150 to $6,250. That is 7% below the $4,350 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

This FORD EXPLORER sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 3

How far is this FORD EXPLORER from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at IAAI in NY - MEDFORD. The nearest major vehicle export port is Newark, roughly 160 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $200-$300, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 4

Is 35,644 miles high for a 2018 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2018 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 99,364 miles across 3330 sales, so at 35,644 miles this one sits 64% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 5

Who sold this 2018 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was JP MORGAN CHASE. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.

Question 6

What can I find out from VIN 1FM5K8D87JGC60446?

Accepted Answer

1FM5K8D87JGC60446 identifies this specific 2018 FORD EXPLORER with a 3.5l v-6 dohc, vvt, 290hp engine, all wheel drive. This page covers its auction history only. For ownership, servicing and reported accidents, run the VIN through Carfax, AutoCheck or NMVTIS — those records are separate from ours and we cannot change them.
