Question 1

What do minor dent/scratches 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 123 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with minor dent/scratches damage, the median was $4,450, from $3,250 to $7,500. That is 11% above the $4,025 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $4,700 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4160 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,025, spanning $3,150 to $6,250. At $4,700 this one went 17% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this FORD EXPLORER sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 FORD EXPLORER's pre-damage retail value at $11,480. It sold for $4,700 — 59% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a clean title mean for this FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 FORD EXPLORER was sold on a clean title. A clean title means no total-loss brand was recorded at the point of sale, which is unusual at salvage auctions and typically lifts the price.

Question 5

This FORD EXPLORER has minor dent/scratches and normal wear damage — how does that affect it?

Accepted Answer

Damage recorded in two areas usually points to a heavier impact than either label suggests on its own, and it raises the odds of structural damage behind the panels. The auction records the primary and secondary areas only; it does not assess the frame. Photographs and, where available, a physical inspection are the only way to judge how far it goes.

Question 6

Is 170,977 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,980 miles across 4160 sales, so at 170,977 miles this one sits 53% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
