Question 1

What do minor dent/scratches 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 126 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with minor dent/scratches damage, the median was $4,400, from $3,300 to $7,500. That is 10% above the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,500 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4279 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $6,350. At $3,500 this one went 12% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this FORD EXPLORER sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 FORD EXPLORER's pre-damage retail value at $10,691. It sold for $3,500 — 67% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

How far is this FORD EXPLORER from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in CT - EAST GRANBY. The nearest major vehicle export port is Newark, roughly 120 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $200-$300, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 6

Is 140,205 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,679 miles across 4279 sales, so at 140,205 miles this one sits 26% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
