Question 1

What do minor dent/scratches 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 126 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with minor dent/scratches damage, the median was $4,400, from $3,250 to $7,600. That is 10% above the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $4,650 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4305 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $6,350. At $4,650 this one went 16% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

This FORD EXPLORER sold without keys — does that matter?

Accepted Answer

Yes, usually. A missing key means the vehicle often cannot be started or moved under its own power at the yard, so its condition is harder to verify and buyers bid more cautiously. Replacing a modern key and reprogramming it to the immobiliser typically runs into the hundreds. It is one of the more common reasons an otherwise sound car sells below its comparables.

Question 4

How far is this FORD EXPLORER from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in TN - LEBANON. The nearest major vehicle export port is Savannah, roughly 400 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $350-$475, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 5

How much below its undamaged value did this FORD EXPLORER sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 FORD EXPLORER's pre-damage retail value at $21,548. It sold for $4,650 — 78% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 6

Is 94,028 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,586 miles across 4305 sales, so at 94,028 miles this one sits 16% below that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
