Question 1

What do rear end 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 554 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with rear end damage, the median was $4,150, from $3,200 to $6,100. That is 4% above the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,800 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4288 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $6,350. At $3,800 this one went 5% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this FORD EXPLORER sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 FORD EXPLORER's pre-damage retail value at $14,450. It sold for $3,800 — 74% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

What does a salvage title mean for this FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 FORD EXPLORER was sold on a salvage title. A salvage title means an insurer declared the vehicle a total loss. Repairing it and passing a state inspection can convert it to a rebuilt title, which stays on the record permanently and affects resale value.

Question 6

Is 129,429 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,684 miles across 4288 sales, so at 129,429 miles this one sits 16% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
