Question 1

What do front end 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 1556 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with front end damage, the median was $3,750, from $3,100 to $5,400. That is 6% below the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,500 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4269 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $6,350. At $3,500 this one went 12% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How far is this FORD EXPLORER from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at IAAI in OK - OKLAHOMA CITY. The nearest major vehicle export port is Houston, roughly 450 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $375-$550, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 4

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 5

Is 131,528 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,746 miles across 4269 sales, so at 131,528 miles this one sits 18% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 6

Who sold this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was MERCURY INSURANCE. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.
