Question 1

What do rear end 2017 FORD EXPLORER models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 556 recorded sales of the 2017 FORD EXPLORER with rear end damage, the median was $4,150, from $3,200 to $6,100. That is 4% above the $4,000 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $5,000 a good price for this 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

4320 comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings sold at auction for a median of $4,000, spanning $3,150 to $6,350. At $5,000 this one went 25% above that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this FORD EXPLORER sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2017 FORD EXPLORER's pre-damage retail value at $12,445. It sold for $5,000 — 60% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a clean title mean for this FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 FORD EXPLORER was sold on a clean title. A clean title means no total-loss brand was recorded at the point of sale, which is unusual at salvage auctions and typically lifts the price.

Question 5

How far is this FORD EXPLORER from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at COPART in MI - WAYLAND. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 550 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $475-$650, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 6

Is 126,259 miles high for a 2017 FORD EXPLORER?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 FORD EXPLORER listings at auction averaged 111,548 miles across 4320 sales, so at 126,259 miles this one sits 13% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
