Question 1

What do hail 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU models sell for?

Accepted Answer

Across 56 recorded sales of the 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU with hail damage, the median was $3,700, from $3,150 to $5,500. That is 6% above the $3,500 median for the model across every damage type, over the last 36 months. Estimates from past sales, not a valuation.

Question 2

Was $3,100 a good price for this 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

452 comparable 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU listings sold at auction for a median of $3,500, spanning $3,050 to $4,800. At $3,100 this one went 11% below that median. Auction prices reflect as-is condition, so the gap usually comes down to damage severity, mileage and whether the car runs.

Question 3

How much below its undamaged value did this CHEVROLET MALIBU sell for?

Accepted Answer

The insurer put this 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU's pre-damage retail value at $7,942. It sold for $3,100 — 61% below that. A gap this size is normal for auction vehicles: the buyer takes on the repair cost, the paperwork and the risk that damage is worse than the photos show.

Question 4

What does a clean title mean for this CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

This 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU was sold on a clean title. A clean title means no total-loss brand was recorded at the point of sale, which is unusual at salvage auctions and typically lifts the price.

Question 5

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 6

Is 126,710 miles high for a 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU listings at auction averaged 87,446 miles across 452 sales, so at 126,710 miles this one sits 45% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.
