Question 1

What does a clear mean for this CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

This 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU was sold on a clear. A clean title means no total-loss brand was recorded at the point of sale, which is unusual at salvage auctions and typically lifts the price.

Question 2

How far is this CHEVROLET MALIBU from an export port?

Accepted Answer

The lot sat at IAAI in MI - BYRON CENTER. The nearest major vehicle export port is Baltimore, roughly 550 miles away. Moving a car that distance on an open carrier typically runs $475-$650, which is a real part of the landed cost and one reason identical cars fetch different bids depending on where they sit. Rates are indicative market figures rather than quotes, and rise with fuel prices and in winter.

Question 3

What does "RUN AND DRIVES" mean on this listing?

Accepted Answer

RUN AND DRIVES is the auction's own condition note for this 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. It means the vehicle started and moved under its own power during a brief check at the yard. It is not a mechanical inspection and says nothing about how far it would drive. Anything beyond that has to come from the photos and a physical inspection.

Question 4

Is 232,363 miles high for a 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

Comparable 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU listings at auction averaged 86,006 miles across 602 sales, so at 232,363 miles this one sits 170% above that. At salvage auctions mileage moves the price far less than damage does — a low-mileage car with structural damage will still sell under a higher-mileage clean one.

Question 5

Who sold this 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU?

Accepted Answer

The listing seller was PROGRESSIVE. Seller type is a useful signal: insurers typically consign total-loss vehicles, rental and fleet operators consign on a cycle regardless of damage, and dealers consign trade-ins they do not want to retail. Each implies a different history behind the same damage label.

Question 6

What can I find out from VIN 1G1ZE5ST9HF175698?

Accepted Answer

1G1ZE5ST9HF175698 identifies this specific 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU in red with a 1.5l i-4 di, dohc, vvt, turbo, 160hp engine, front wheel drive. This page covers its auction history only.
